Lucy Kennedy & Colm Hayes to host new breakfast show on Ireland’s Classic Hits

Thursday April 1st sees Colm Hayes and Lucy Kennedy offer listeners a new way to wake up all over Ireland as they launch their new Colm and Lucy Breakfast Show on Ireland’s Classic Hits

Listeners in Dublin, Limerick, Cork and Galway will wake up to household fun and can now join the craic during the school run as Ireland’s Classic Hits announce the launch of the new ‘The Colm & Lucy Breakfast Show’ on Thursday 1st April. Aiming to make breakfast time enjoyable for everyone, the show will bring family fun and competitions along with Lucy’s showbiz gossip. The new show will have the latest news, sport, weather, traffic, entertainment and showbiz news every morning.

Colm & Lucy will have regular updates on the latest goss with ‘Celeb Luce’, a daily chance to win cash with the ‘Hit Bit’, and a lucky listener can win €1,000 every morning with ‘7 Deadly Spins’ – a brand new radio game; spin the wheel and answer 7 trivia questions in just 49 seconds and win the cash. Not forgetting ‘Classic Kids’, every morning where we get to hear the little voices from across the country take part in the show. They’ll be on ‘Roll Call’ duty, where kids give a ‘shout-out’ to all their classmates, and a brand-new kids quiz called ‘Little Holly’, where our younger listeners pitch themselves against Lucy’s daughter live on-air to win great prizes.

Lucy Kennedy says, “Life is an adventure and myself and my funny, very best friend Colm are moving to a new home on Ireland’s Classic Hits. We will be sharing our new show with a new audience from April 1st and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Co-Presenter, Colm Hayes said of the move, “I am so looking forward to working on Ireland’s Classic Hits. I get to work with my best mate Lucy and she now gets to play Madonna and ABBA. I hope Ireland adds us to their breakfast menu, we’re low in calories and almost fat free, well Lucy is!’”

Classic Hits broadcasts to 2.3M people throughout the population in the Classic Hits franchise area in the major cities of Ireland – Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.

Lucy Kennedy
Lucy is a popular award- winning Irish radio and television presenter, a busy mum with three children and a rescue puppy Riley. She co-hosts ‘The Colm and Lucy Breakfast Show’ with Colm Hayes on Ireland Classic Hits. Lucy has presented ‘Ireland’s Got Talent’ on Virgin Media One and her own show ‘Living with Lucy’. Lucy has ‘lived’ with an array of stars including Nathan Carter, Gemma Collins, Ivan Yates, David Guest, Jermaine Jackson and Kerry Katona to name a few. Previous to this, Lucy presented several television shows with RTE and Virgin Media One including ‘The Six O’clock Show with Martin King’, ‘The Lucy Kennedy Show’ and ‘Charity Lords of the Ring’.

Lucy recently became Aldi’s Pet Ambassador.

Colm Hayes
Colm Hayes is well-known for his work as a radio presenter. Colm was the creator and presenter of FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock, which became the number one breakfast show on Dublin radio for many years before moving to 2FM in 2008 to present ‘The Colm & Jim Jim
Breakfast Show’. While with FM104, he won an impressive 7 PPI/IMRO radio awards and released, along with co-host Jim Jim, seven comedy albums, two of which were awarded platinum discs and one gold disc for sales. It was at 2FM that Colm teamed up with Lucy
Kennedy when, after Gerry Ryan’s untimely death, they stepped in and presented on that time slot for the Summer of 2010. Colm went on to present The Colm Hayes Phone Show and DriveBy on 2FM. He also presented Colm and Jim-Jim’s Home Run TV Quiz Show and co-
presented with Diarmuid Gavin on ‘Dirty Old Towns’ on RTE TV. In 2017, Colm joined Radio Nova with Lucy Kennedy as they launched The Colm & Lucy Breakfast Show.

Ireland’s Classic Hits
Classic Hits launched in 2008 and is Ireland’s only multicity broadcaster, covering the cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. The station has 296,000 listeners and is aimed at listeners aged 40+. The station is also available via its smartphone apps, its website www.classichits.ie and via the Irish Radio Player.
